Natural sources include wetlands, forests, and oceans, where methanogenic bacteria break down organic matter in oxygen-deprived conditions, releasing methane. Livestock Production: Did you know that livestock, particularly ruminants like cows and sheep, are major methane emitters? Methane is produced by the digestive system of these animals during the fermentation process in their stomachs.
